This Civil Rights Exhibit will be located on the 4th floor of the Greenbelt Courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland. Due to the serious content of the exhibit as well as the location, the palette is subdued and the materials for these installations draw from the current materials in the courthouse. The angled elements symbolize the uphill struggle this country has faced pertaining to civil rights, as well as the progression. The angle, however, never hits the ceiling, representing how far we have yet to go to achieve equality for all. The exhibit focuses on several specific court cases that influenced the progression of equality. There are also two immersive scenic displays built into preexisting alcoves to illustrate the inequality this country struggles with. The story is organized as a timeline to move the viewer through the entire space.
